The admissions procedure is a two-fold process. It is designed to give parents an opportunity to learn about the school, its philosophy and policies, and to meet our administration and faculty. It also gives us an opportunity to assess each child's situation and determine whether we are able to meet the needs and expectations of the parents. Our goal is to enroll families who will both benefit from and contribute to what the school has to offer.

If you are interested in enrolling your child in Lake Underhill Montessori School:

  • Parents schedule a tour with the Lake Underhill (LUMS) office. Please call the school office at (407) 207-8088 to make an appointment.
  • If distance does not permit you to visit, we ask that you call and discuss your needs and any questions with the Director or Assistant Director.
  • Complete the application and return it with the fee to the LUMS Office.
  • The LUMS Office sends an acknowledgement card to parents upon receipt of the application and fee.
  • LUMS schedules an appointment for the parents and student to meet with the Director.
  • LUMS requires all Enrollment requirements have been met, please visit our ENROLLMENT section.

For younger children and older children who have not been exposed to a school environment, we ask  parent and child to come in together  until the child (and parent) build trust in the teachers and the new environment. This "phasing-in" also supports the parent/child separation process. For children who do not need "phasing-in" there is an orientation time for each child and parent with the teachers before the child starts school.
