Today after 4 years has gone by; we are able to see the difference the Montessori methodology has made. In our ventures with our move, we have explored other schools. Some that were very highly rated, where they were just getting around to teaching their 4 year-old students the A-B-C’s and colors. Some were a total chaos even when parents were invited to observe. it takes one to experience the “Standard” education system to really appreciate the best. We see the foundation that the Montessori has built and the struggles other kids have to keep up with what (our daughters) have already mastered, at yet a younger age. You are doing a wonderful service to the community and we are happy that we were able to find you. You have pulled our girls out from the run-of-the-mill and given them the tools they need to excel through life. We already see it happening at their current age of 5 years old." Allyn Strong --- Eight years ago I did not know about the Montessori concept. After numerous different daycares/schools (seven to be exact) with my oldest child I finally decided to give the Montessori concept a try. He was four when he began and what a blessing it was. My oldest has accelerated tremendously. He has since been in all sorts of gifted programs and accelerated reading programs in his current school. I contribute that to parenting and the Montessori school. I could not wait to enroll my youngest son into LUMS. Unlike my oldest, this is the only school he has attended. We did not have to endure the agony of constantly changing schools. He is on his second year and is absolutely loving it and doing very well. I highly recommend LUMS and the Montessori concept, it works!!!! To Mrs. Walji and staff, we thank you!!!!! Debbie Martinez ---Sometimes it is hard as a parent to take a leap of faith when it involves your children. But that is what we did when we enrolled our children at Lake Underhill Montessori. I worked part-time and was not happy with our current childcare program. I had heard of Montessori programs, but didn't know much about them. I couldn't even find Lake Underhill Montessori because it was tucked away in a shopping plaza. This school turned out to be our hidden treasure where our two oldest boys spent almost 4 wonderful years. Children are capable or learning so much more than just playing with "instant gratification" toys that you find in most school or childcare settings. Our oldest sons that attended the school are so different in learning styles, interests, personalities, etc. Both of them were able to excel in a Montessori environment. Our younger son was born prematurely and had many struggles. He thrived in this school. Mrs. Walji is committed to developing children in a way that they are able to reach achieve anything. We loved that we were able to visit our children at school so much and participate in their schooling. The "open door" policy is so inviting for parents and children and helps you stay connected. I cannot express how grateful we are to Mrs. Walji for opening her school. We hope it is still open when our youngest is ready to attend. Michele McCarthy |
